Mini symposium was organized by Jozef Stefan Institute researcher dr. Nina Kostevšek and hear team to present the work of each researcher and form project ideas to apply together as consortium to EU funding opportunities in the field of cancer research and drug delivery. Researchers came from Institute of Chemical Sciences & Technologies, Nacional Research Council of Italy (SCITEC-CNR), Milano, Italy, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Milan (DiSFarm – UniMi), Milano, Italy, Department for Biotechnology, Jožef Stefan Institute, National Institute of Biology (NIB), Ljubljana and Department for nanostructured materials, Jožef Stefan Institute.
Barbara Breznik presented a lecture entitled “Modeling tumor ecosystem in the lab” and gave overview of cancer models that are developed at NIB in a scope of EU project CutCancer. She explained their establishment and use for studying cancer therapy resistance and testing efficacy and penetration of different drugs and novel approaches for treatment.
