Cancer Biology unit from NIB has visited SciLifeLab, prof. Mats Nilsson group from SU.
In tha last year we have worked together on WP4; Uncovering changes in the TME after treatments using spatial and single-cell analyses on tumour organoids. We are learning new state-of-the-art methodology called in situ sequencing (ISS) that enables spatial and single-cell analyses of 3D cancer models and patient tumour tissues to characterize TME and to study the response of tumours to conventional and novel treatments, including radio-chemotherapy and immunotherapy, respectively. At NIB, we have established organoids that represent patient tumour avatars that are composed of multiple cell types with the ability to recapitulate the architecture and functionality of the original tumour prior and post therapy such as chemotherapy and irradiation. Now we are applying with the help of our SU partners innovative ISS technology to those avatars.
