We are pleased to share that our PhD student Simona Katrin Galun has recently completed another one-month research visit to the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) in Sweden. The training took place between May and June 2025 at the Mats Nilsson lab.

This was her second visit to the Nilsson lab, where she had previously trained in the use of in situ sequencing, a spatial transcriptomics technique for visualizing gene expression in intact tissues. During this visit, she built on her prior experience by applying and optimizing the protocol to novel glioblastoma invasion models. This work will enable a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying glioblastoma invasion, particularly how tumor cells interact with and adapt to the healthy brain environment at a spatial level.

We extend our sincere thanks to Chika Yokota for her ongoing mentorship and to Maria Escriva Conde for assistance with image analysis and data interpretation. Our appreciation also goes to the entire Nilsson group for their collaborative and welcoming atmosphere. We look forward to applying the knowledge gained through this exchange to our current research and to continuing this productive partnership.
