55th Krka Awards

On 26 September 2025, the 55th Krka Awards for Secondary School Research Projects were held in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. The event, hosted by pharmaceutical company Krka d.d., recognized outstanding student research, with 49 projects submitted and 11 selected for oral presentation.
Among the presenters was Teja Kljun, a student from Bežigrad High School in Ljubljana, who presented her project titled “The Impact of Artificial Sweeteners on Liver Cell Spheroids and Oxidative Stress, and the Awareness of Young People.”
Her research was conducted at the National Institute of Biology (NIB) under the mentorship of Dr. Martina Štampar and Dr. Katja Kološa, with Prof. Špera Tršek serving as the school mentor.
The event also honored mentors for their continued support of young scientific talent. Krka d.d. congratulated all award recipients and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering youth research.
